If you are in Stanley just before Christmas the true spirit of our community is showcased at the Christmas Parade. Held the Saturday before Christmas every year, the local volunteer fire brigade organise a terrific event. The floats are funny, colourful and very entertaining.

The first weekend in Stanley the local agricultural show provides great entertainment with side show alley, arguably the best home made cooking is on display in the main pavilion and there is great competition for the best cattle in the 'hook and hoof' competition.

The locals are proud of their heritage, volunteers man the Discovery Centre - a time capsule of Stanley's history - its events, happenings and the people.

The birthplace of Joe Lyons, Australian Prime Minister, who was born in Stanley, is open to the public. A snapshot of his life is on display.

Wander through the Stanley Burial Ground. This must be the most picturesque resting place around. A comprehensive guide written by local historian, Ruth Eslake, is available for purchase from the Stanley Hotel Gift Shop and the Nut Rock Café.
